When Eric and Jennifer Sowers learned that Level, a restaurant located in the Arts District of Downtown Annapolis, was listed for sale, they knew it would be a perfect fit for them and their family.

Eric brings over 40 years of restaurant experience, ranging from Culinary Director to Area Manager. The bulk of his experience was as Executive Kitchen Manager with the Cheesecake Factory for over 15 years where he created menus, managed 300+ staff members, opened new locations and troubleshot under-performing units across the country.

With over three decades of sales and marketing experience, Jennifer has flourished as a record-setting Realtor, Director of Market Development of an International Luxury Real Estate Auction company and Regional Sales Manager of a Mid-Atlantic Bank. She also brings a vast knowledge of technology to the team.

While officially taking ownership of the restaurant in December 2017, innovation continues to be the name of the game. Every dish, every cocktail is a creative fusion of the freshest ingredients available. The menu keeps locals coming back for more with their seasonal changes that promise new and inventive items. Anne Marie brings more than 20 years of restaurant and hospitality experience to Level, having worked in nearly every aspect of the industry, from serving and bartending to events and management. Her hands-on experience, strong knowledge of food and cocktails, and genuine focus on hospitality make her a natural fit for our team.

A longtime Annapolis-area local, Anne Marie also has a creative side. She holds an associate degree and certificate in graphic design and works as a freelance designer, creating everything from menus and advertising to social media and website designs.

Carlo Biondi

Chef Carlo Biondi brings nearly two decades of culinary experience to Level, along with deep roots in the Annapolis area. A Broadneck High School graduate, Carlo has spent his career working his way through professional kitchens, from Sous Chef to Executive Chef and eventually Regional Executive Chef overseeing seven restaurant locations.

Carlo’s approach to food is rooted in creativity, consistency, and a genuine love of the kitchen. Throughout his career, he has built and led successful culinary teams, opened new restaurants, developed menu concepts, and earned recognition for his work, including a nomination for Best Regional Executive Chef in 2015. At Level, he brings that experience to our small-plates kitchen, where he and his team create dishes meant to be shared around the table.

Carlo also has a particular passion for creating vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-sensitive dishes that allow more guests to enjoy the experience of dining out. He enjoys the challenge of working around dietary restrictions without sacrificing flavor or creativity, and that philosophy fits naturally with Level’s ever-evolving menu. For Carlo, great food should be something everyone at the table can get excited about.
